The Personal Transporter (PT) i2 is our most versatile model. Designed for easy operation over a variety of terrains, the i2 features our new LeanSteer™ technology as well as the new InfoKey™ controller. The perfect synthesis of form, function and fun, the i2 lets you glide through your daily commute or zip from errand to errand, indoors and out, without worrying about parking.
The LeanSteer frame and handlebar tilt left and right in response to your body’s natural inclination to lean in the direction you want to travel. The i2 seems to anticipate your every move and adjusts to your slightest whim. The wireless InfoKey controller constantly monitors data such as battery level, speed and distance, and includes a new security feature to help protect your i2.
The i2 also comes equipped with Saphion® lithium-ion batteries. These durable batteries deliver an impressive range of up to 24 miles on a single charge (depending on terrain, riding style and payload). Saphion lithium-ion batteries are low-maintenance, have a long service life and can operate at battery temperatures as low as 14° F / -10° C. The i2 is available in a choice of gloss white or durable anodized black LeanSteer frames and trim. For further customization, a variety of accessories are available.
In addition to the redundant safety features at the heart of all PT models, the i2 comes equipped with a number of standard features, like the wireless infoKey controller, which allows the rider to monitor speed, distance traveled, and battery life, as well as security alarm activation. The LeanSteer frame is adjustable to the comfort of the rider and allows the PT to fit in the trunk of many cars.

RANGE Lithium-ion: 16-24 miles (24-39 km) on a single charge
The range for each PT model varies with terrain, temperature, the rider's weight, and riding style.
|
 |
TEMPERATURE Lithium-ion: 14° to 122° F (-10° to 50° C)
When stored and charged at room temperature, the i2 can perform in a wide range of operating environments. Actual performance is dependent on battery temperature, terrain, riding style and payload.

TERRAIN
The i2’s large tires and track width make it suitable for a wide range of applications and terrains. Its sensors constantly monitor the rider's position relative to gravity. This allows the i2 to adjust for changes in terrain while keeping the rider upright.

PAYLOAD Total Capacity, Rider & Cargo: 260 lbs (118 kg) Rider: 100-250 lbs (45-110 kg)
The i2 can carry up to a 250 lb. adult. It can also be fitted with optional Cargo Accessories for a total capacity of 260 lbs.
|
 |
SPACE Platform Height: 8 in (21 cm) Footprint: 19 x 25 in (48 x 64 cm) Gound Clearance: 3 in (7.6 cm)
We designed the i2 to take up no more space than the average person. About as wide as the average person's shoulders, it raises you 8 inches off the ground, providing a clear sight line of your surroundings.
|
 |
WEIGHT 105 lbs (47 kg)
Portability was a key design objective. That's why we made the i2 light enough to handle, small enough to store in the trunk of a midsize sedan, and collapsible enough to fit in tight storage spaces. Optional lower cargo frames provide east-to-grip handles for storage and transport.

TURNING RADIUS: ZERO
One characteristic of a pedestrian is the ability to turn in place without impacting any nearby person or object, something few vehicles can do. By balancing on a single axle, i2 riders can also turn in place.

POWER Lithium-ion Battery Packs
The i2 comes with Saphion lithium-ion battery packs. The batteries are designed with on-board electronics that automatically monitor both the condition and temperature of the batteries. Batteries can be recharged by utilizing any 90 to 260 volt and 50 to 60 Hz AC outlet (typically accessible in most countries). A complete cycle charge will take eight to ten hours, which at 10 cents per KW-h, equates to about the cost of a newspaper. Li-ion batteries are designed for approximately 1000 full charge/discharge cycles.

SAFETY Redundant Electrical Systems Robust Mechanical Systems
Safety is our top priority in both design and operation. To help ensure that both PT users and those near them remain safe, we built redundancy into the balancing and electrical systems. If any system begins operating at diminished capacity, the other is programmed to assume responsibility. This allows the PT to maintain balance and bring the rider to a safe stop. We implemented the highest design standards in building the PT's mechanical structures, and each part has been thoroughly tested and analyzed to ensure such high standards were met. Millions of fatigue cycles and thousands of hours of ride testing were completed in the development of the PT.
